We
are responsible, knowledgeable keepers of working dogs,
with 30 years experience. We lived and worked in N.E.Scotland
for a number of years and have now settled in the West
Country.
We breed mostly
chocolate labradors, sometimes yellow and black, but
all with good working pedigrees, the chocolates with
some show in there, to obtain the chocolate colour.
I favour working dogs as good all-rounders, for pet
or working homes bearing in mind a working dog is not
simply a body but has a mind also, and that, no matter
how perfect the body, it is the mind that directs the
work.

When I breed a litter
of pups, they are born inside the house , in my utility
room, where they stay for the first few weeks. Once
they are 'up and running', eating solids, I move them
to a larger area, where they have heat and plenty of
room to move around and play. Both mum and pups are
well fed and wormed to ensure maximum growth and health.
They are constantly handled from birth to 8 weeks, by
myself, to ensure they are happy, confident and outgoing.
All my dogs, adults and puppies have always been fed
on a top quality complete dog food. Any experimentation
with change of diet should be done after a dog's first
year, to ensure that the growth rate is correct for
the size and breed, in order to minimise joint problems.
My stud dog is a chunky laid-back dude, his grandfather
is Drakeshead Garth and he is a fine, steady working
sort and consistently throws dark chocolate puppies
with a good biddable temperament.
