THE HISTORY OF NEWFLAME

The Newflame line was unknowingly started when Glyn purchased a new puppy to replace his old springer at the end of January 1984. He called her Jenny. She was to grow up to make him the envy of many of his shooting associates. She was extremely well bred with some classic bloodlines in her pedigree. Four of the top six bloodlines in Britain at that time were in her pedigree, the 4 being Pinehawk, Gowna, Wivenwood and Staxigoe. In stature and looks she always favoured the latter two.

In spring 1995 when Glyn and his wife Diane realised that Jenny would be dead by the end of the year they decided to carry on with the legacy that Jenny had left them, a traditional looking, close coupled, strong, stocky and not to tall spaniel, with nice dark markings with a natural hard hunting instinct and good sensitive noses (game finders). There was only ONE K.C. REG breeding bitch out of Jenny in existence at that time, and so the Newflame line came to be, and the NEWFLAME affix was officially granted. All of the Newflame bitches are descended from Jenny and have been bred by ourselves.

The Newflames are some of the minority of dogs left in Britain today that are totally Rytex free. This is what we now specialise in, breeding dogs without any Rytex in them ( if you're after a white dog with liver or black ears the only colour on it, then please don't phone us).

All the Newflames are working gundogs, working on various shoots throughout the area and achieve respect for their work and it is only fair to say that this is how many of their puppies are sold, and there is very often a waiting list of potential and eager new owners.

Glyn & Diane are registered joint members of the C.D.B. and the dogs are very much a team effort. The entire family i.e. Glyn, Diane and their three sons all work the dogs on the shoots. The choice of a suitable SIRE is a joint decision, and Diane is totally and solely responsible for rearing the puppies and has hardly ever lost any puppy born alive.
